The healing arts of the Philippines
I have visit local healers whose knowledge and wisdom had been acquired and passed on from generation to generation. Just as we have so many islands in the Philippines, we have so many indigenous healers. Due to limited time, we focused on the healers on the southern part of Luzon Island, the Bicol Region, where I grew up. Albay Province especially is known for its famous Mayon Volcano, the volcano with the most perfect cone. We have other volcanoes in the region as well. These existing volcanoes gave us several medicinal hot springs. The climate and the tropical rainforest provide a lot of medical herbs for the healers. I recommend Lonely Planet Book about the Philippines for advance reading.
